Editorial Policies
Open Access and Copyright
The Latin American Journal of Health Research follows a fully open access model, making all content freely available to readers with no fees for submission, peer review, or publication. Authors retain the copyright to their work and grant permission for its publication under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), which allows for the use, adaptation, and distribution of content as long as proper credit is given to the original authors. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all co-authors are aware of and agree with the submission and eventual publication of the manuscript.
Ethical Standards and Publishing Practices
The journal adheres to the ethical principles outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and upholds high standards of integrity throughout its editorial process. Authors must confirm the originality of their manuscripts and disclose any potential conflicts of interest at the time of submission. All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software to verify their authenticity. Any form of plagiarism, self-plagiarism, or data manipulation is considered a serious violation of the journal’s ethics policy and may result in immediate rejection or retraction of the article.
Publication Model and Frequency
Using a continuous publication system, the journal releases articles individually as soon as they complete the editorial process. These articles are compiled into formal issues twice a year, in June and December, ensuring both timely publication and organized archiving. Each article is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), enabling reliable citation and long-term accessibility across digital platforms.
Digital Preservation
The journal is part of the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), which ensures the secure, long-term preservation of its digital content. To further increase the reach and impact of its publications, the journal actively seeks indexing in national and international directories and databases. Its inclusion strategy is guided by strict criteria of relevance, quality, and alignment with leading scientific indexing standards.
Privacy Policy
In accordance with Brazil’s General Data Protection Law (LGPD), all personal data collected by the journal—such as names and contact information, are used solely for editorial purposes and are never shared or used for unrelated activities.
Anti-Plagiarism Policy
The journal uses similarity detection tools, including iThenticate, to ensure the originality of all submitted manuscripts. Submissions with significant unreferenced similarities will be immediately rejected.
Policy on Retractions, Corrections, and Updates
The journal is committed to maintaining the accuracy and reliability of its content. If errors are identified after publication, corrections, errata, or retractions will be issued in accordance with COPE guidelines. Minor issues such as typographical or formatting errors that do not affect the meaning of the text may be corrected without the need for a formal retraction.
